Not quite misspelling

Okay, so I’m a very good speller. Yes, it’s a bit of bragging, but some people have a knack for things, and my thing is spelling.

However. I am fascinated to hear about words that people type incorrectly every time, even though they know it’s wrong. You know the ones. Total bunged-up muscle memory. You correct them while you do it but you always do it.

Lately I’ve been compiling a list of my own. Here are the words I do know how to spell, but always always always type incorrectly:

Edmonton: Edmongon

Persevere: Perservere

Confusion: Confustion

Ratio: Ration

Occasion: Occassion

Philanthropy: Philantrhopy (yes, I do have to type this one often)

Redefined: Redifined

Gah. I almost feel ashamed to post this on the internet! It’s so embarrassing. But I can’t be the only one, right? What are some of your words?

Some books news

Wow. Long bit of radio silence there. I’ve been writing, but nothing terribly exciting. Why don’t we, instead, read about other people:

Designers create places to curl up with a book – The Independent

Calgary’s only French bookstore to close if no buyer found – Calgary Herald (Even though I’m an Anglophone I’m sad I never shopped here.)

Final Nabokov work planned for November – New York Times

Top 10 Forgotten Pulitzer Prize-Winning Novels – AbeBooks.com

Quick update

I finished the second of the two stories I’ve been working on for five years! I’ve sent it off to some people for their comments and then, hopefully, it should be done forever.

It’s interesting how, even though both of those stories have been changed so much and so often in five years, I feel kind of like they are five-year-old children of mine. I will be glad when the second one is finalized, but I kind of miss working on them both. Not that I will revisit them, of course.

Now, time to work on the next one! If this one takes five years, I will eat my hat. You can all watch and throw rotten tomatoes at me.
